Pezula certified as a Preferred Family Destination

Pezula Resort Hotel & Spa, South Africa’s award winning resort on the Eastern Head of Knysna, has been certified as a Preferred Family Destination by Preferred Boutique, a collection of small, luxury boutique hotels in a host of stunning locations across the world. According to Gert Venter, GM of Pezula Resort Hotel & Spa, Preferred Family Certified hotels and resorts are destinations that go beyond family-friendly. “Each offers unique amenities, customised programmes, and age-appropriate activities for young guests and their grown-up travelling companions.”

The certification acknowledges that Pezula is an ideal destination for families with children of all ages, including infants and toddlers, pre-schoolers, school-age children, pre-teens and teens. The luxury resort, with its 83 sumptuous suites, has connecting suites for families, and can provide cribs or cots, high chairs, bottle warmers, rollaway beds and car seats. In addition, Pezula offers babysitting services, a puppy club in season, a supervised children’s playroom and plenty of activities including Nintendo and Wii, DVDs, games and books.

Outdoor activities for kids are encouraged whenever the weather permits and children can swim in the heated pool, play supervised ball games and complete a sports based obstacle course at the Field of Dreams, or visit the Barnyard & Stables to see and pet the horses and farm animals.

Families can also enjoy a number of outdoor activities together, without having to leave the 612 ha property, including cycling, hiking and canoeing, tennis, archery and pétanque. Noetzie Beach, bordering the resort, has been voted one of the top three beaches in South Africa. Build sand castles, paddle in the river mouth or collect shells along this pristine sandy shore.

Pezula’s award winning Spa also offers a special kiddies menu, one of the few spas in the country to do so.

When it comes to dining, children have their own menus, as well as an in-suite dining menu. Dining room hours at Zachary’s Restaurant can be extended for families wishing to eat before the other guests.

The nearby town of Knysna offers many things to do including family activities such as lagoon cruises, dolphin and whale excursions, swimming beaches, shopping malls, art galleries and museums. The area is well known for its animal sanctuaries, including the Elephant Park, Monkeyland, Birds of Eden, Radical Raptors and Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Centre.
