Thousands of Southern Cape residents have paid their last respects to 11 victims of the Rheenendal bus crash.
Politicians, community members, friends and family gathered at the Rheenendal Primary School for Sunday’s service.
Eleven tiny white coffins are lined up in front of the marquee where the service is taking place.
Western Cape Premier Helen Zille and Provincial Education MEC Donald Grant also paid their last respects to the victims.
Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga had an emotional breakdown as she addressed family members. She recounted her story of losing a child.
The minister told parents to treasure the time they had with their children.
Motshekga added that the Education Department will continue to support families and counsel the 44 pupils rescued from the crash.
