Probe into Knysna bus crash nearly complete

Western Cape officials on Wednesday said they nearing completion in their investigation into the recent school bus crash in Rheenendal near Knysna. 

Fourteen children and the bus driver died when the coach veered off the road and into a river in August. 

All of the African Express bus company’s vehicles have since the accident, underwent roadworthy tests. 

The provincial education department’s Paddy Attwell said they hope to release the results of the probe soon. 

‘The investigation is focusing mainly on contracts with the bus company concerned. We are not ready to release the findings yet because we need to coordinate the reports with the Department of Transport who are looking at the technical issues involved,’ he added.
