Jack Daniel’s will be 161 years old this September. The man who would go on to become a legend, by giving his name to the whiskey that today, is the single biggest selling whiskey label in the world, was born in September 1850.
As we all know, birthdays are about gift giving, and some might say the only thing a great American icon should give, is another. So this year, one extremely lucky person will win the iconic GT worth R1 Million!
In March of 1964, the first Mustang rolled off the assembly line and thanks to an immediate and almost cult-like popularity, Ford sold over 22 000 Mustangs on the first day of release. As the first American pony car – a car with a short trunk (boot) and a long hood (bonnet) – the Mustang’s characteristic design would turn it into a veritable movie star, featuring in over 500 films.
With such impressive accolades, the iconic muscle car has certainly earned itself a place amid the Jack Daniel’s birthday celebrations. South African importer and muscle car experts, DiamondBack Racing, were commissioned by Jack Daniel’s to build the 2010 GT Premium. Sporting a 4.6 litre V8 Roush supercharged engine, which puts out over 320kW (425 horsepower), this beast is a real performance vehicle.

The exact day in September on which Jack was born is lost to history, because the records were destroyed in a fire at the local courthouse. This is why to this day, around the world, we celebrate Jack’s birthday throughout September. However, while mystery surrounds Jack’s birth date, there is no mystery surrounding the spectacular Jack Daniel’s muscle car. This is one car that will not pass unnoticed.
Pulled by a custom-built trailer, the car will be travelling the country on a road trip starting in Cape Town moving to the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal and finally touring Joburg in September. Birthday promotions will be taking place nationally at key liquor outlets and venues, before the lucky winner is announced on 29 September at the 5fm Auckland Park studios.
To stand a chance of winning the epitome of an American muscle car worth R1 million, simply purchase a bottle of Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 and follow the on-pack entry instructions using the unique code provided, between now and 28 September.
