The George Campus (Saasveld) of theNelson Mandela Metropolitan University has recently drastically increased tertiary and learning opportunities (including BComm, BEd, Marketing, Tourism and Management) at the campus. This allows for approximately 1,500 full time students at the campus. The SWDCB, by means of a self-funded bursary initiative since 2010, is now in a position to ensure that talented cricket players are afforded a quality education at a recognised tertiary institution within the boundaries of SWD Cricket. The SWDCB is also in process to increase the income to this bursary fund whereby local businesses contribute to the bursary trust fund.
The aim of these bursaries is to keep young and promising cricket players in the province and to allow such players to further their cricket and academic careers in the SWD. It will also enhance the cricket profile of the NMMU (George) Cricket Club – an aspect which is an imperatives part of our strategic thrust in growing cricket in the region
Potential players that wish to apply for this scheme must submit a Curriculum Vitae (focussing on cricket and academic achievements) to the SWDCB Office by 31 October 2011. Applications can be submitted via e-mail to albertusk@swdcricket.co.za
