REGISTER your school now to participate in the YES Environmental Drama Festival in your programme for 2011.
The theme for the YES Environmental Drama Festival 2012 is: Making Cities Resilient.
The festival timeline is as follows:
Introductory Workshop for Teachers, date and venue:
• Wednesday 8 February at 15:00 in the Side Foyer of the Chandelier Foyer, Artscape
Environmental Excursion date and venue:
• Saturday 3 March from 08:00 – 17:00. Venue TBC.
Pre-Festival Workshop dates (Saturdays) and venue:
• 25 February, 17 March; 21 April, 5 & 19 May & 9 June 2012 from 08h30 – 14h30 in
the Chandelier Foyer at Artscape
Technical dress rehearsals:
• Monday 23 to Thursday 26 July from 14:00 – 18:00 in the Artscape Theatre
Festival date and venue:
• Friday 27 July from 12h30 – 18h00 in the Artscape Theatre
Prize Giving date and venue:
• Saturday 28 July from 10:00 – 14:00 in the Artscape Theatre
Don’t miss out on this exciting and challenging opportunity to showcase environmental issues through drama. Through our pre-festival workshop programme, learners will develop skills in theatre making and environmental theatre and creatively interpret and explore environmental information.
The Festival has two aims:
1. To build the environmental capacity of High Schools by showing the links between the curriculum and learning about sustainability and the challenges facing all of us, and to look for locally relevant solutions.
2. To make it possible for learners to express their life views and concerns, broadening their horizons by experiencing the magic of creating theatre. Learning the discipline essential to being on stage and developing the drama skills of scriptwriting, playmaking, basic acting and directing.
