The log leaders in the Cricket South Africa provincial Three Day challenges, SWD, will travel to Durban this weekend where they will take on KwaZulu Natal at Sahara Stadium at Kingsmead. The unbeaten men from the Southern Cape will be desperately motivated to extend their lead at the top of the table but the weather forecast for this weekend is not promising. Rain is predicted for late Friday afternoon and Saturday.
The selectors has put a vote of confidence in the team and an unchanged line-up from that which defeated Border. Good news is that both the strike bowlers, Gurshwin Rabie and Wessel Hartslief, were declared fit and will be on duty against KwaZulu Natal.
SWD will be desperate to record their first success in the Tweny20 format after they lost their opening matches. Coach Garry Hampson admitted that a lack of experience in the shorter format hampered the team in but he also was not particularly happy in the way that the batsmen applied themselves.
The squad for the weekend is: Ross McMillan (captain), Sammy-Joe Avontuur, Burton de Wett, Christiaan Jonker, Waldo Lategan, Brendon Louw, Pieter Stuurman, Wessel Hartslief, Phaphama Fojela, Douglas Baartman, Douglas Baartman, Erinn Ewerts and Cobus Scholtz.
