As one of the most scenic, exciting and spectacular areas you will come across in South Africa, the Southern Cape is even more electrifying in the summertime. Every year, thousands of holiday makers flock to its shores to enjoy the white beaches and the temperate climate. On the other hand, adventure junkies also revel in all the excitement the area has to offer, from bungee jumping to paragliding to mountain biking and more.
The Great Brak Grabadoo is an event sure to grab everyone’s interest. This run, walk and ride event is a surefire holiday must-do in the Garden Route. Not only is it set in one of the most beautiful places imaginable, the sleepy little town of Great Brak River, but it is also an event for the entire family – an invitation for a bit of holiday cardio without a tyrannical gym instructor breathing in your neck for results. It is a non-timed event, geared to put a bit of enjoyment back into competition.
There are great prizes up for grabs and what makes it even more appealing is that you don’t have to come in first to be in line. It’s the festive season – spot prizes are much more fun!
Entries are officially open. If you are a walking or a running enthusiast, then get ready for 4.8km of tackies hitting tar around the beautiful Great Brak River. Road cyclists can get in some necessary road time before the Argus by entering the 20km or 40km routes, whilst mountain bikers can look forward to 3 routes – a 15km, 35km and the brand new 70km route traversing some of Great Brak River’s byways with the most spectacular scenic moments (if you have the time or the breath to enjoy it).
Participants can enter at Chas Everitt offices in Great Brak River, Sedgefield and George or online at www.online.co.za. The first 1200 entrants will receive a great summer goodie bag with among other things a summer surprise from 8ta. All entrants will receive a medal, a gift from Mitchum and Powerade.
This summer, no matter what gets you to the Southern Cape, get your gear down to Great Brak River f or the 9th annual Great Brak Grabadoo and experience more of the Southern Cape’s treasures – family, entertainment and movement.
