PREMIER LEAGUE SEMI FINALS
Union Stars andSussexadvanced to the final of the premier league after the semi-final’s were contested over the weekend. Union Stars, who made 235/9 in their allotted 50 overs, convincingly beat Mossel Bay, who replied with 113 all out, by 122 runs.
The match between Sussex and George, which was played at D’Almeida, ended as a tie but Sussex qualified ahead of George on the basis that they won both league matches in the preliminary round. Both teams scored 192 (all out).

PREMIER LEAGUE FINAL
The Premier League final of the SWD Cricket Board will be contested on Saturday at the REC Ground in Oudtshoorn when the defending champions, Union Stars, will be challenged bySussex. With no less than eight provincial players in their midst, Union Stars are the favourites but Sussex, who only won the title once — 12 years ago in the 1999/2000 season, will be hungry for success. They enjoyed a good season and will be confident to surprise the men from Oudtshoorn.
With the likes of Sammy-Joe Avontuur, Erinn Ewerts, Pieter Stuurman and Waldo Lategan in their line-up Union Stars have a solid batting line-up whilst Gurshwin Rabie, Douglas Baartman and Rhupino Plaatjies are all bowlers that proved themselves at a higher level. Mpho Selowa will be a key player forSussexbut they will also rely on Reavan Plaatjies, Ranwill Claassen and Emile Esau.

LEAGUE AND SCHOOLS’ FINALS
The league and schools competition of the SWD Cricket Board will be concluded this weekend when the finals in the different leagues will be played.
Pirates United and Melkhoutfontein will contest matters in the Promotion league final that will be played on Sunday. Besides the pride factor the winner will also be promoted to the premier league next season. In the schools u/19 super league Oakdale will host Langenhoven Gimnasium in the final whilst Glenwood House and Oakdale will battle for the honours in the u/15 league.
