A Southern Cape woman was arrested for having more than R100,000 worth of drugs in her possession.
The 37-year-old was apprehended after a passenger bus was stopped and searched at a garage on the N2, near George, on Wednesday.
The police’s Bernadine Steyn said they found thousands of mandrax tables in the woman’s luggage.
“A black bag was found containing 20,955 mandrax tablets, with an estimated street value of about R180,000.”
The Western Cape has been battling with an increase in drug trafficking.
Earlier in April, the police ordered passenger buses to tag luggage in order to catch traffickers.
At least R12 billion worth of drugs has been confiscated in the province over the past 22 months.
