Athletics SWD send a team of 36 athlete to participation at this year’s combined ASA and SASA (Schools) Youth, Junior and U23 Track and Field Championships in Germiston on 29 – 31 March 2012. Our athletes performed very well, bringing home four medals in total. Lorenzo Gordon (Oakdale High) won a Gold Medal in Triple Jump (15.21m) for Boys 17 years. Stephen Klue (Outeniqua High) won a Bronze Medal in Javelin Throw (66.54m) for Boys 19 years. Jo-Ane Van Dyk (Outeniqua High) won a Gold Medal in Javelin Throw (49.19m) for Girls 15 years and lastly Anél Oosthuizen won a Gold Medal in the 5000m Walk (26.22) for Girls 17 years.

Lorenzo Gordon from Oakdale High, represented South Africa at the recent CAA South Region Youth Championships in Zimbabwe on 27 May 2012. He won the Silver Medal in Triple Jump with a jump of 14.97m.
