Max Models was opened in 1991 by Lyn Maxwell, who has over the years been actively involved in all aspects of the fashion industry both locally and internationally. Before opening Max Models Lyn worked as a model in London, Milan, Paris, New York as well as South Africa, she has diverse experience in the industry having over the years aside from a successful international model career also has been involved in many facets of the industry such as art directing, styling, choreography, make-up and hair; her team of very experienced caring hands-on bookers now develop and manage models careers both locally and internationally.
We have evolved into an agency that now only represents women and specializes in this field of expertise.
Max Models is dedicated to supplying the highest standard of service to both their models as well as to their vast client base; both locally and internationally we supply professional models to quality clients for shoots happening both locally, as well as any destination worldwide that the client would choose to shoot.
We do hands on development and management of female models, we pride ourselves on our professionalism, and a very caring concerned approach is taken to developing and maintaining our models careers. We are committed to developing carefully selected new faces that have the potential to be developed into top models to work both here is South Africa as well as oversea’s,we will always remain a small very selective “boutique” style women only agency focusing on quality over quantity of the models we represent in order to give 100% to our models in their career management as well as in our service to clients.
We are constantly looking for girls who have the potential to be developed into great models with successful careers. Very often the girl that has the greatest potential to be a model is very shy or does not believe she is beautiful or could be a model; sometimes unusual faces work beautifully on film. Models need to have all round good looks, good skin, teeth, hands, legs, a good body; not all models need to have a swimwear body. Certain fashion requires a very different body to swimwear modeling. Height is a very important requirement; all garments for shoots come in sample size which means the model needs to have certain measurements as well as a minimum height; the height requirement for models is 1.75-1.80, so ideally models, once they have stopped growing, need to reach these minimum heights.
Lyn runs a very tight ship on her girls and the agency becomes the 2nd mother. To allay parents’ fears, alcohol, drugs and partying are not tolerated by Max Models, aside from it not being a good life style choice; no model can have a truly successful career if she is not healthy and clean living. Young models are groomed from the offset to be ready to cope when the time comes for international travel and the models are closely monitored while overseas, sometimes even accompanied if under age and booked for a big campaign, like Minki that I’m sure you all know well.
