Six people died and eight were injured in two car accidents in the Southern Cape on Monday, Western Cape police said.
Captain Malcolm Pojie said four people died when a car hit an ambulance head-on on the N12 at 1.15am.
The car was overtaking another vehicle while on its way from Oudtshoorn to Dysselsdorp,” he said.
The three men and woman in the car died. Three men and woman in the ambulance were taken to the Oudtshoorn hospital with minor injuries.
Two men died in a separate accident on the N2 between George and the George Airport, said Pojie.
He said the driver of a Fiat Uno lost control of the vehicle which it swerved across the centre median and his the rear tyre of a truck.
“The Uno then collided with the side of a car travelling in the opposite direction towards Mossel Bay.”
Pojie said two men and two women were injured and were taken to the George hospital.
