Bringing their unique sound to the Bay Harbour Sound Stage on December 21st for Friday Nite LIVE! is Balkan band Moskvitch. Featuring experienced muso Charles Summerfield and led by clarinet and saxophone recitalist and soloist Matthew Reid, Moskvitch is a unique Russian band that have played to critical acclaim across South Africa from festivals in Oudtshoorn and Paarl and to the “One City, Many Cultures” Festival and the “Infecting the City” Arts Festival in Cape Town.
Saturday 22 December
Entertaining audiences on Saturday December 22nd is Joburg-based duo Christoff Beukes & David Delaney. Guitarist and vocalist Christoff Beukes is a prolific singer-songwriter in both the English and Afrikaans genres. Influenced by the likes of Bruce Springsteen, U2, Bob Dylan, and David Kramer, Beukes is a force to be reckoned with in the SA music scene. He is teaming up with talented violinist David Delaney to provide a vibrant and compelling soundtrack for Bay Harbour attendees.
Sunday 23 December
Celebrating the festive season with a special performance on Sunday December 23rd is SA music legend Steve Van. Steve has enjoyed success on the local music scene with various bands including Junglebook Vultures, Rust and the Vans. More recently, the acoustic rock pioneer has been working on a new album with Pete Stein that combines his past influences of folk, rock and blues with modern day pop and dance. Don’t miss out on the festive fun!
The Market
The Bay Harbour Market offers a range of splendorous Christmas goodies from a wide selection of over 90 traders, including turquoise and flamingo napkins from Handmade By Me, designer wall lights from Moonlights, a string of felt owls (and other awesome animals) from Itchy and Stitchy, and soft bamboo throws from The Natural Company. Take a break from browsing the stalls and grab an organic coffee from ZA Café or a mouth-watering sirloin ciabatta from MasterChef SA judge Peter Goffe-Wood’s Kitchen Cowboys. There is also organic cider from Everson’s and craft beer from Keg King, to name a few.
