Traditionally regarded as a celebratory drink, Méthode Cap Classiques have fast become the favoured tipple with meals, sundowners or simply enjoying with friends. L’Ormarins, which forms part of the Anthonij Rupert Wines portfolio, has recently added a premium Brut Méthode Cap Classique (MCC) NV to its already highly acclaimed range of wines.
This particular Cap Classique was the brain child of the late Anthonij Rupert who dedicated much of his time in creating the perfect MCC for L’Ormarins. This was borne out of his belief that MCC’s in South Africa had great potential, as is evident today. After his untimely passing his brother, Dr Johann Rupert, paid homage to his brother, Anthonij Rupert, by continuing with his dream when he took over the business.
This vision has resulted in a first-class Méthode Cap Classique made from a blend of Chardonnay (60%) and Pinot Noir (40%) grapes. A hand-crafted wine best described as elegant, fresh and lively, rich in minerality, displaying hints of brioche, citrus and frambiose. The Chardonnay yields a fresh lime character, accentuated by the high natural acidity, whilst the Pinot Noir provides hints of perfume notes.
Available directly from the Cellar Door or in select specialist wine stores nationwide, Brut Méthode Cap Classique NV retails for approximately R110 per bottle. Best served, chilled, on its own or with oysters, delicate seafood dishes and light salads.
