YahClick proves that South Africans can access broadband Internet – anywhere

vox-telecomsYahClick, the new high-speed satellite broadband service from Vox Telecom, has proven that it is possible to access fast, affordable internet from the most remote areas in South Africa.

YahClick has proven its mettle by providing high-speed internet access to a number of high-profile events recently, including the ANC Mangaung conference in Bloemfontein, the opening game of the AFCON in Soweto, the annual Dusi Canoe Marathon, held outside of Pietermaritzburg in Kwazulu-Natal and the charity Balloon Run event recently held in Cape Town. YahClick also provided the live webstream by Wildfire TV that placed the eyes of the world, or at least, over a million viewers firmly on the Jane Gooddall Institute when chimpanzee Nina gave birth on camera.

YahClick Go, which is the mobile version of the YahClick service, is currently being tested by the national broadcaster with the aim of using mobile broadband satellite for live radio broadcasts at events and breaking news areas.

“Anyone in South Africa – whether they are on a farm in the Karoo or a game lodge in the bush – can access the same high-speed connection as long as they have an electrical power supply,” says Jacques Visser, Vox Telecom YahClick Project Manager. “

“Overseas visitors expect internet access when vacationing in South Africa,” explains Visser. “Holiday resorts, B&Bs,  lodges and conference facilities in the outer lying areas can now offer an affordable, high-quality internet service to their customers via satellite.”

The introduction of Vox Telecom’s YahClick service is a major milestone for South Africa. YahClick offers Africa’s first Ka-band satellite connection, and this cutting-edge technology has over 55 active spot beams providing coverage over highly targeted areas, allowing for greater efficiencies on the ground and a lower cost to the end user.

“We’ve made sure that there are installers across the country, even in smallest of towns, so that everyone and anyone can access this much-needed service,” says Visser.

As an added benefit, Vox Telecom will be offering free hardware and installation on all YahClick business and enterprise packages, and selected home packages, until the end of May.

YahClick business and enterprise packages vary in cost and size, with the most comprehensive package allowing usage of up to 360GB of bandwidth per month. This is ideal for multi-branch companies, large businesses such as mines and a wide range of SMEs that depend on quality, affordable and reliable voice and data solutions.
