Athletics SWD sent a small team of 3 Provincial and 2 Individual athletes to the SA SENIOR Track and Field Championships that was held at the Coetzenburg Stadium in Stellenbosch on 12 and 13 April 2013.
Their performances was as follows:
Jo-Ane Van Dyk 4th 49.62m Javelin
(Senior 600gm)
Zane Fourie 5th 45.96m Javelin
(Senior 600gm)
During the past SA Youth and Junior Championships in Pretoria, both these athletes managed to achieve the IAAF qualification standard of 46.00m (500gm) for the IAAF World Youth Championships in Donetsk (Ukraine) on 10 – 14 July 2013.
Both excellent performances taking in consideration that they participated with the 600gm javelin for the first time and they are only 16 and 17 years old.
