Garden Route Ladies Circle 20 was recently represented by Elizabeth Theron (Chairlady) and Michélle Jacobsz (Secretary) at the Ladies Circle South Africa (LCSA) Annual General Meeting that was held on 24 / 25 May 2013 in Johannesburg.
During the AGM the following ladies was elected on the National Executive Committee: Sam Kendal (President), Lisa Schlechter (Immediate Past President), Judy Theunissen (Vice President), Hesta Nothling (Treasurer), Michélle Jacobsz (Secretary) and Colene Maartens (PRO and Webmaster).
Various important issues was discussed, i.e. Reports, Financial Statements and Budget. We also decided on our National Service Project – a two year project proposed by Northridge Ladies Circle 7. “The ACE Screening Initiate” – all circles, with the assistance of AA (Arrhythmia Alliance SA) will screen residents of old age homes on a National basis to find undiagnosed AF (Arterial Fibrillation) and refer those for treatment. Correct treatment of AF deduces death and other serious complications that might occur due to untreated AF. So far Northridge and Edenvale Ladies Circle 6 has screened 80 residents. This is a man power only project – specialist medical staff and equipment is supplied by AA. GRLC 20 will soon be contacting Old Age homes in the Garden Route area for screening opportunities.
LCSA will also be hosting the Mid-Term-Meeting in January 2014 (European & African Countries) and also the Ladies Circle International AGM (30 Countries) in 2016 in Cape Town. GRLC 20 was awarded the LCSA AGM in 2016.
GRLC 20 also received the LCSA Raider Award for 2012 – for traveling 7 x times to 3 other circles.
