This year yielded the fourth annual Wellington “Quest for the Best”, a competition initiated for Wellington by Wellington, celebrating the newly-found independent wine district’s quest to showcase the overall quality and diversity amongst its local producers.
Well-respected Sommeliers Higgo Jacobs, Joakim Blackadder, Miguel Chan and Neil Grant formed the judging panel for this years’ competition, the results of which will be announced at a lunch awards ceremony to be held on 4 September 2013.
Hot on the heels of the awards announcement, wine lovers and connoisseurs will have the opportunity to taste the crème-de-la-crème from the Mutual & Federal Agri Wellington Wine Route in a first ever, one-night only, Wellington “Quest for the Best“ showcase to be held at the Southern Sun Waterfront Hotel, on Wednesday, 4 September from 16:00 until 20:00.
Patrons can sip, sample and discover Wellington’s specific varietals and blends which will be presented in “pods” or stations with winemakers in attendance. The showcase will also feature the Top Ten Wines and Top Spirits which received the highest accolades at the awards ceremony held earlier that day. In attendance will be producers such as Alkmaar, Bosman Family Vineyards, Diemersfontein, Doolhof, Dunstone, Welbedacht (Schalk Burger & Sons) and Bains Cape Mountain Whisky to mention just a few.
Tickets cost R60 per person which includes a tasting glass and are available at Computicket. No alcohol will be served to under 18’s. Space is limited and booking essential.
