Zaida Fortuin is reaching for a dream

When Zaida Fortuin danced her way to winning the Rembro-Venfin bursary at the 2009 KKNK, she knew little of what was required to realize her dream of becoming a successful dancer.

In January 2010 she registered for a four year course in musical theatre at the George Musical Theatre Academy [GMTA] – using her prize money to cover tuition fees.  In October 2012 she passed the Trinity College ATCL Musical Theatre Diploma examination with distinction.  She will do her final LTCL examinations in October 2013.

GMTA entered her into the Provincial Round of the South African Talent Championships held at Kleinbrak in June this year.  Her audition so impressed the judges that she was invited to compete in the National Round at the Vodadome in Gauteng during the September school holidays.

Here she will give a live performance in front of a panel of professional judges.  If successful, she will go through to the International Round and the possibility of an international scholarship.

Because GMTA offers an internationally recognized curriculum, Zaida is well positioned to take advantage of opportunities anywhere in the world.

According to GMTA’s founder Ria Vorster, Zaida is a dedicated student, completely committed to her studies.  Modern- and tap dancing are currently her major subjects.

GMTA is making an appeal as funding is required for transport and accommodation.

If you would like to support Zaida realize her dream, please contact Mrs. Ria Vorster on 083 459 4189 or via email at riavorster@gsopa.co.za.
