The NMMU cricket club who was promoted to the premier league this season maintained their unbeaten record when they won both their matches during the past weekend. On Saturday NMMU (100 put) defeated Harlequins (71 all out) by 29 runs and followed it up with a 44 runs victory on Sunday in a rain affected match against Sussex when they match was reduced due to rain and the outcome determined by the Duckworth Lewis system.
Pacaltsdorp United (88/7) made a start to their campaign when they beat Sussex (87 all out) by 3 wickets on Saturday but the lost by 16 runs to Mayflower on Sunday in a match where the outcome was also determined by the Duckworth/Lewis system.
Envirino Swartz (6/22 for Harlequins against NMMU) was the outstanding performer of the weekend after he also recorded a six wicket haul the previous weekend. NMMU’s Lyndon Volkwyn (4/28 and 3/25) also bagged 7 wickets during the weekend.
