The SWD provincial team had another weekend of mixed fortunes in the CSA Provincial competition the past weekend when they played Easterns in Oudtshoorn.
SWD lost their second consecutive match in the three day competition when they again failed in their first innings and was dismissed for only 110. In reply Easterns scored 204 – for a lead of 96. In their second innings, SWD scored 222 in their second innings thanks to a fine innings by Sammy-Joe Avontuur (90). Easterns reached the winning target (129/4) to secure a six wicket victory.
The limited over match was a real nail-biting affair with SWD that emerged as winners by one wicket with three balls to spare. Easterns were restricted to 220/9 in their innings. Pieter Stuurman played a match-winning knock (54) to help SWD to secure a very welcome victory.
