Chill out this Festive Season with De Krans

dekransAs we prepare for the festive season with loved ones, which for most of us, includes long lazy days at the pool, going away for the holidays or simply relaxing in the comfort of your home, be sure to stay cool this summer with the De Krans Chill Bag.

Available directly from Makro at R125 each the stylish chill bag includes a bottle of the De Krans Pink Port and Espresso. Simply top up with ice and a splash of water, pop in your bottle and enjoy!

First launched in South Africa in 2008, the first of its kind, the De Krans Pink Port is made from traditional port varieties Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barocca and Souzão, where the grapes were allowed only a few hours skin contact and the juice then cool-fermented for approximately five days before fortification with unmatured brandy spirit.  The result is a port with a lovely vibrant blush colour, rich ripe flavours of fresh red berries and a long, lingering aftertaste.

This new style of port, bottled in a frosted 375ml bottle is aimed at all port lovers, allowing them to enjoy the wonderful freshness and flavour spectrum throughout the year. This port is best enjoyed chilled, or on crushed ice in summer as an aperitif, with nuts and olives.  In the cooler months it is best enjoyed at room temperature with olives, nuts or any pâté of your choice.

Classified as a dessert wine rather than a port, the De Krans Espresso has been produced using the classic port varietals, being Touriga Naçional and Tinta Barocca. Packaged in a striking frosted bottle this unique wine has a deep ruby red colour with pleasant aromas of freshly ground coffee and dark berry fruit. It has a solid structure with a lingering, aromatic finish. Best served at room temperature in winter, or slightly chilled in summer. This is the perfect ‘dessert’ to end off a delicious meal with good friends.

And as the Chill Bag say, ‘Stay Calm and Drink Wine!’.
