Montgomery open u/13 week with century

swd-150x150MATTHEW MONTGOMERY produced the outstanding individual performance on the opening day of the Cricket South Africa (CSA) under-13 week in Bloemfontein when he made the only century in the eight matches played.

His innings of 118 plus 81 not out from Jason Brown enabled KwaZulu-Natal to make a mammoth 291/5. Their opponents, Easterns, however, managed to hold out for a draw.

There was also a fine innings of 96 not out by Kieran Williams for Boland while the other 10 batsmen (plus extras) between them contributed exactly 100 against Zimbabwe. He ran out of partners and this deprived him of what would have been a well deserved century. Boland nevertheless won on the first innings.

The best bowling performances came from Sebastian van Rooyen whose 5/22 enabled North West to upset Eastern Province on the first innings and Mason Zacharia whose 5/51 enabled Griquas to score an easy first innings win over SWD.
