Union Stars clinched the Sedgars Twenty20 competition on Monday when they defeated the defending champions, Sussex, by 132 runs in a one-sided final.
Union Stars, batting first, scored a massive 188/4 in their allotted 20 overs thanks to good contributions by Pieter Stuurman (77*) and Sammy Joe Avontuur (55). Sussex was dismissed for only 56 with Erinn Ewerts (3/4) and Marcello Piedt (3/10) the pick of the bowlers.
Union Stars (61/1) advanced to the final after a comprehensive 9 wicket victory over Thembalethu (60/9). In the other semi-final, Sussex (113/3) beat Pacaltsdorp United (107/9) by three wickets.
