Trophy opportunity for SWD

SWD will have their biggest opportunity in history to win their first trophy when they take on North West in Oudtshoorn this weekend.

The Three Day match that will be played from Thursday to Saturday will be of importance and the home team will try to keep their momentum after a sound victory against Griquas two weeks ago.  It will however be the limited over match on Sunday which will be the great attraction.

Although SWD, who is currently in the fifth position (18 points after 6 matches) – a victory even without a bonus point – will be sufficient to take them to 22 points (with KZN Inland and Gauteng) and with the only team with five wins under the belt will be good enough to clinch the CSA One Day Trophy.

The team will be without Brendon Louw and Gurshwin Rabie (both on duties at the Warriors) as well as the injured Kobus Scholtz, Lonwabo Rodolo and Glen Addicot.  Waldo Lategan will however be back from injury and he will bolster the batting line-up.

North West will have the duties of Protea player, Aaron Pangiso whilst SWD will rely on key players like Ross McMillan, Adrian McLaren,  Marcello Piedt and Pieter Stuurman.  By the time going to press the SWD team was not yet finalised.
