The devastating middle order batsman from the Chevrolet Warriors, Christiaan Jonker, will boost the struggling SWD team as they will take on KwaZulu Natal Inland in the CSA Provincial competition this weekend.  Jonker who played in vital role in SWD’s successes two seasons ago was released by Warriors coach, Piet Botha.  Further good news is that Adrian McLaren, the experienced top order batsman, who served a two match ban in the three day competition will also be available for the 3 day team.

The match that will be contested at the REC Ground in Oudtshoorn will allow the men from the Southern Cape to restore some pride after a rather disappointing season.  A strong finish in their remaining four matches – of which three are at home, will give some credibility to the team.

In the three day competition the team of Ross McMillan is having their most disappointing season since the current format was introduced.  They are currently in the 13th position (out of 14) whilst they are still in the run in the T20 competition.

The SWD squad for the weekend is:  Ross McMillan (capt), Waldo Lategan, Luthando Mnyanda, Glen Addicot, Sammy-Joe Avontuur, Pieter Stuurman, Brendon Louw, Siviwe Gidana, Douglas Baartman, Lyndon Volkwyn, Marcello Piedt, Gurshwin Rabie, Adrian McLaren, Christiaan Jonker, Hanno Kotze, Justin Jordaan, Neil Hornbuckle and Gareth Dukes.
