Sedgars SWD Cricket League results

The talented NMMU wicket keeper/batsman, Hanno Kotze, was again the hero in the past weekend’s Sedgars Premier League competition.  He scored a match winning 81 runs as NMMU (215/7) defeated Union Stars (122 all out) by 93 runs and on Sunday made 107 in NMMU’s victory of 106 runs against George.

Mayflower (151/5) caused the upset of the weekend when the beat Pacaltsdorp United (150 all out) by 5 wickets and moved away from the bottom position on the log.

Mossel Bay (114/8) defeated Pirates United (113 all out) by two wickets to stay in the run for a semi-final place whilst Sussex (94 all out) on Saturday easily defeated Mayflower (28 all out).  Harlequins Forces (60/5) strengthen their position for a place in the semi-finals after they defeated George (59 all out) by 5 wickets.

The four teams that advanced to the Promotion league semi-final’s that will contest on Saturday were determined the past weekend.  In a thrilling contest the match between Blanco (126) and Thembalethu (126) ended as a tie with both teams qualifying for the play-off.

Pioneers (172) also secured in place in the semi-finals when they defeated Kranshoek Cobra’s (151) by 21 runs.

Union Stars B (91/2) retained the Reserve League title when they defeated Union Stars C (88 all out) in a one-sided final by 8 wickets.
