The top five shortlisted nominees for Kia Record of the Year have been announced as the nation eagerly awaits the 20th Annual South African Music Awards on Monday, 28 April 2014.

South Africa’s music-loving public has spoken, and the 20 hit songs competing for the coveted title have now been narrowed down to five, thanks to thousands of SMS votes rolling in from fans.

The five shortlisted songs for Kia Record of the Year are:

B Connell Cruise Not Just Friends
L Jimmy Nevis Heartboxing
O Khuli Chana Mnatebawen
R Mafikizolo ft. Uhuru Khona
T Mi Casa Jika

It’s now up to South Africans to make sure that their favourite song out of the top five walks off with the ultimate accolade at SAMA 20 on Monday night – the highly prized Kia Record of the Year Award.

SMS the letter of the alphabet next to your track of choice to 33123 (e.g. A). SMSes are charged at R1.50, free SMSes do not apply, and there is a limit of 10 votes per mobile phone.

Voting lines close on 28 April during SABC1’s live broadcast of the SAMA 20 awards ceremony from Sun City, starting at 20h30. The winner of the public vote for Kia Record of the Year will be announced during the course of the show. So get texting to ensure your favourite artist wins!
