The official opening ceremony for the 2014 SWD Cricket Academy intake was held in Oudtshoorn last week. SWD Cricket, who had its first intake in 2014, will through this program continue to invest in local cricket talent and prepare elite players for first class and professional careers.
In the opening address, SWD Cricket CEO, express his excitement with the 2014 intake which include promising players such as Richard Maree (SA Colts), Lance Roelfse (Warriors Cubs) and Hanno Kotze who already represented the SWD senior team. History was also made with the inclusion of three women’s players – Miceala Andrews, Bianca Figland and Cecila Strydom and as part of the intake.
The program will run between May and September and will be concluded with the Cricket South Africa Academies week that will take place in September. The SWD Cricket High Performance coach, Andre du Plessis, will manage the program.
