Community Project: SWD Cricket Academy

The South Western Districts Cricket Board (SWDCB) recently embarked on a social development project when the 2014 Intake of their Cricket Academy got involved in a project in Blanco.

About a month ago four families from Blanco houses got burnt down and lost everything.  Thanks to the goodwill of the SWDCB Academy and donations searched from Lewis Stores in George in the form of furniture (beds and matrasses) as well as bedding Academy Manager, André du Plessis and his players, last week changed the life of demoralized families who lost everything.  In a handing-over ceremony the academy intake made a visit to Blanco where they handed-over the donations.

Albertus Kennedy, Chief Executive Officer of SWD Cricket congratulated the Academy intake and André du Plessis (the Academy Manager) on their initiative.  He also expressed a word of thanks and appreciation towards Mrs Joyce Venter, the manager of Lewis Stores in George and regional controller, Roan Koen together with Mrs Anneline George of Kretzenshoop Primary School (an educator of children of the effected families) as well as Ms Michel Maree for her voluntary initiative with this project.

In his response, SWDCB President, Mr Rudy Claassen confirmed SWD Cricket’s involvement in in social and community projects in the region.
