5 June 2014 – A very excited and dedicated group of Eden District Municipality Firefighters left for Cape Town today, to compete in the 3rd South African Open Toughest Fire Fighter Alive competition. This competition, open only to Fire Fighters, will be held on the 6th and 7th of June 2014, at the Good Hope Centre in Cape Town. Firefighters from various municipalities within South Africa as well as representatives from the Armed Forces, Ports Authority and Aviation Authority are only a few of the participants who will be partaking in the 2014 competition.
During a brief ceremony, Cllr Henry Mc Combi wished Firefighters all the best and said: “Thank you for availing yourself to represent the Eden region during the competition. We are very proud of you and have confidence that you will do us proud.”
