Athletics SWD once again had a very successful Education Series on 13 and 14 June 2014 in Oudtshoorn. Athletics SWD and Boland Athletics team up and worked together with Technical Officials and Coaches from all over the SWD. We presented the following courses:
ASA Technical Officials Level 1 and 2 Course: This course were presented by Brandon Du Plessis (Boland) covering all aspects of Track and Field officiating. 14 x Level 1 and 16 x Level 2 officials participated in the two-day course.
Assizing, Electronic Timing, Race Walking Judging and Starting Courses: These course were specialist event courses in addition to the standard ASA Technical Official syllabus. Hendry Mathews (Boland), Kevin Arendse (Boland) De Wet Kotze (Boland) were the official presenters. In total an amount of 12 x participants completed these courses.
Coaches Level 1 and 2 Course: The theory part of this course were presented by Abrie De Swardt (ASWD) covering all aspects and fundamentals of Coaching. The practical sessions were co-ordinated between Desmond Prins (ASWD), Sprints Hurdles and Distant Races, Overton November (ASWD), Jumps and Frank De Water (ASWD), Throws. In total an amount of 23 x Level 1 and 6 x Level 2 coaches participated in the two-day course.
