Athletics SWD, on behalf of WC DCAS, had the wonderful opportunity to present development funding to five running clubs in the SWD. Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport allocated an amount of R15,000 towards the following CDP Clubs: Coastline Athletics, Knysna Marathon Club, Laingsburg AC, Mossel Bay Harriers and Rainbow AC.
Each club will utilize the R3,000 towards assisting their development athletes with their affiliation and membership fees, clothing and equipment. WC DCAS has also indicated that they will assist these club with transport subsidy until the end of this financial year.
These 5 clubs has come to the end of their three year program with the Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport. Over the past three years DCAS has given them financial support, equipment, clothing, training opportunities and also a sound foundation to carry on with their own development programs.
Five new clubs have been identified for the next three year cycle and they are: Beaufort West Runners, Hartenbos Drawwers, Oudtshoorn AAC, Outeniqua Harriers and Sedgefield Striders.
