The Council of the South Western Districts Cricket Board, on Saturday, approved a Memorandum of Incorporation (MOI) to pave the way for the foundation of South Western Districts Cricket as a non-profitable company. The approved MOI will replace the Constitution, the governing document that applied to the South Western Districts Cricket Board, that was governed as a non-profitable organization.
The first Annual General Meeting of SWD NPC is scheduled for 4 September 2014 when a Board of Directors, that will replace the current Executive Committee, will be elected. Twelve directors, of which five will be independent, will be elected/appointed.
This alignment, which is introduced based on guidelines from Cricket South Africa, was done after specific recommendations from the Nicolson Commission seeking a more independent representation on governance structures in the national and provincial cricket governance bodies.
