Here with the brochure promoting the South African Coasts coffee table book to be launched in conjunction with the SA Hope Spots in  December 2014.

Please note that in addition to the outlets mentioned in the pamphlet you can also purchase the book directly from the Sustainable Seas Trust (SST) – contact info@sst.org.za. The beautiful coffee table book is reasonably priced and is a great idea for corporate gifts and Christmas presents. All profits of the book will go to education initiatives within Hope Spots and SST education programs in the Eastern Cape.

Algoa Bay Hope Spot committee member & one of the authors of the South African Coasts coffee table book , Dr Lorien Pichegru, was awarded the emerging scientist of the year award at the 15th Southern African Marine Science Symposium (SAMSS) recently. Penny Haworth, another Algoa Bay Hope Spot committee member was awarded one of the Marine and Coastal Communicator Awards at SAMMS while the other Marine and Coastal Communicator Award went to Dr Eleanor Yeld Hutchings – a judge in the 2013 SST Photo Competition and as such advisor on the book as most of the pictures in the book were submitted by the public (youth, hobbyists and professional photographers) via the competition.

Please let me know if your media organisation will be publishing/broadcasting stories leading up to the South African Hope spots launch: there are a multitude of angles to opt from such as the stunning book which is a product of public participation reflecting the splendour of our SA coastline; the visiting renowned female oceanographer, Dr Sylvia Earle, Dr Earle as role model/mentor; conservation approach; impact on tourism/biz/education and more.

Please also indicate if your media organisation will be participating in the launch tour (e.g. sending along a journalist/crew to cover the launch events and what coverage you are able to provide with regards to these internationally significant opportunities.
