On Friday, 08 August 2014, the ladies of Eden District Municipality Head office enjoyed an early morning tea party in celebration of Women’s Day.
Cllr Tertius Simmers, Portfolio Chairperson of Corporate Services, briefly addressed the ladies, leaving them with the following words of author, C. Joybell: “The strength of a woman is not measured by the impact that all her hardships in life have had on her, but the strength of a woman is measured by the extent of her refusal to allow those hardships to dictate to her on who she becomes.”
Eden DM Speaker, Cllr Doris Nayler who also coordinated the half-hour social session, motivated ladies to work together in order to take Eden forward. Furthermore she urged ladies to attend work with a positive attitude, to smile and in the process uplift a fellow colleague’s day.
In conclusion, Cllr Nayler announced the launch of a new project at Eden DM, “Eden House to Home Project”. She explained that the goal of this initiative is to encourage Eden Officials to join forces to help people in the community who have no means to rebuild their home or have lost their jobs, to help with clothing and household items.
All Eden DM women officials throughout the region were also spoiled with a small feminine pampering gift as token of appreciation.
