Union Stars produced an outstanding fight back performance on Saturday to remain the only unbeaten team in the Sedgars SWD Premier League competition. NMMU, the defending champions, posted 182/9 and had Union Stars in deep trouble at 54/6 but Enver Venter (57*) and LeRoy Bredenkamp (41) both played match winnings inning’s to secure a 3 wicket victory.
Harlequins (158) defeated Thembalethu (90) by 58 wickets thanks to a good all round performance by Rhupino Plaatjies (40* with the bat and 4/22 with the ball). Mossel Bay (246 all out) on Saturday recorded a bonus point victory by 92 runs against Blanco (155) but on Sunday lost against NMMU. Mossel Bay posted 166/8 but Tyron Walsh played a vital innings of 60* to secure a six wicket victory for the George students as NMMU (172/6) reached the target.
Pacaltsdorp United (157/8) showed great composure when they defeated Pirates United (156 all out) in Knysna. The match between George and Sussex was abandoned due to wet conditions.
