After five matches SWD is still without a victory in the shorter format of the game after yet another disappointing performance in the Twenty20 competition. SWD, who travelled to Pietermaritzburg the past weekend, lost by 4 wickets against KZN Inland in the T20 match after a credible draw in the three day match.

In the three day match, SWD were in a commanding position at tea time with the home side battling at 126/6 – chasing 253, when bad light had the final say in a match where more than 50 overs were lost due to bad light and rain. SWD, who posted 172 in their first innings, gain a lead of 10 runs on the first innings after they dismissed KZN for 162. The debutant Niel Hornbuckle made 34 whilst Lonwabo Rodolo (4/35) and Gurshwin Rabie (3/51) were the backbone of the SWD bowling attack. In the second innings SWD declared at 242/7 thanks to solid contributions by Sammy-Joe Avontuur (78) and Pieter Stuurman (65). Lyndon Volkwyn (2/20) and Rabie (2/42) both bagged two KZN wickets in the second innings.

In the T20 match SWD, with only Hornbuckle (39) that impressed, only managed to score 101/9 where after KZN Inland (102/6) scored the winning runs with five balls to spare to record a 4 wickets victory. Luthando Mnyanda (4/21 in four overs) excelled with the ball.
