The SWD Women’s Cricket team had an excellent start to their campaign in the Cricket South Africa Provincial Women’s competition after they recorded two resounding victories the past weekend. The SWD ladies defeated Kei in both the limited over and Twenty20 fixtures in Mthatha and recorded bonus point victories.
In the limited over match SWD Saturday Kei was restricted to only 38 on which SWD replied with 40/1 (5.2 overs) for a 9 wicket victory. The captain, Heroldine Rhodes (6/6 in 7.5 overs) and Janet Winster (3/7 in 7 overs excelled with the ball).
In Sunday’s Twenty20 match SWD thanks to Annemie Koen (77; 62 balls, 2×6, 8×4) and Mochelle May (50*; 27 balls, 3×6, 4×4) posted 165/2. Kei was restricted to 53/9 as SWD won by 112 runs. Miceala Andrews (2/13), Haroldine Rhodes and Janet Winster (2/5) were the pick of the bowlers for SWD.
