The second stage of the Trans Agulhas, the shortest of the challenge, took place this morning between Mossel Bay and Stilbaai.
Team Infanta/Yamaha, winners of the first stage, did not finish today’s stage due to a burst petrol bag. Dave Barnett and team mate Tjaart Oosthuizen will have to make up the lost time in tomorrow’s stage between Stilbaai and Struisbaai.
The first team across the finish line of today’s stage was Team imperial Cargo with Wimpie Ackermann as pilot and Whitey Louw as co-pilot. They won the stage in 1:28:03, followed by Team Wingfield/Bok Radio/Gemini in a time of 1:28:47. Third to cross the line was Team Nulandis/Pomula a mere 15 seconds later.
Tomorrow’s stage spans 161km, from Stilbaai to Struisbaai and the first boats are expected at the finish at around 10:42.
