Two coaches from the SWD Cricket coaching structure recently attended the Cricket South Africa Level III coaching course. Elridge Booysen (left) and David Pryke (right) – both former first class cricket players –are with Garry Hampson (Coaching Manager SWD Cricket).
Experienced and suitable Level II candidates are nominated for the Level III course. Such candidates must have the potential to become competent senior club, provincial youth and academy coaches. The course covers technical and techtical aspects of the game and includes more advanced topics and principles of sport science and medicine. Emphasis is also placed on skill assessment, methods to assist the coach with individual technique analysis, error detection and fault correction.
Pryke is the head coach of the SWD u/15 team and Booysen the assistant coach of the SWD u/13 team as well as the Regional Performance Centre coach at Oudtshoorn.
Dysselsdorp Cricket Club was amongst the club that benefited with an allocation from the National Lotteries Board towards South Western Districts Cricket. Present at the handing-over ceremony were Johan Weyers (Amateur Manager SWD Cricket), Andries Jacobs (Dysselsdorp Cricket Club), Rudy Claassen (President SWD Cricket) and Emil Le Roux (Dysselsdorp Cricket Club)
