Centuries by two SWD batsmen, Pieter Stuurman (134 for Union Stars against George) and Neil Hornbuckle (118 for NMMU against George) were the two highlights in the Sedgars SWD Premier League competition.
Union Stars (346/9) maintained their unbeaten status and remain at the top position on the log after a comprehensive victory of 256 runs against George (90)
NMMU had mixed success during the weekend. On Saturday the George Madibaz (147 all out) suffered a defeat of 113 runs against Mossel Bay (260/6). Stefan Terblanche (95*) was the batting hero for Mossel Bay. On Sunday NMMU scored a massive 314/9 for a victory of 257 runs against Blanco (57 all out). Wiaan Oosthuizen (96) missed out on a century.
Harlequins (136/6) moved into the third position of the log with a home victory of four wickets against Pacaltsdorp United (135 all out). Sussex (103 all out) on Saturday defeated Thembalethu (33 all out) by 70 runs. Thembalethu, on Sunday, however pulled things together (160/6) with an impressive victory of four wickets against George(159 all out). Lastword Tapfumaneyi (66) played a match winning innings.

Western Hope, Riversdale and Ramblers qualified for the semi-finals of the SWD Promotion League after they won the respective pools.
The fourth team will be determined with the respective runners-up, Ladismith, Heidelberg and Kranshoek Cobra’s that will battle for the remaining place with a round-robin series of matches. Ladismith (168/7) won the first of these encounters when they defeated Kranshoek Cobra’s (167 all out) by 3 wickets.
The semi-finals will take place on 22 February.
