  • Put forward your position with self-confidence.
  • Say “no” if you mean “no”.
  • Take your time.
  • Don’t make excuses.
  • Don’t let yourself or others feel inferior.
  • Be specific.
  • Be aware of your voice and body language.
  • Maintain eye contact.
  • Don’t feel guilty if you want to say “no”.
  • Cope with the criticism that you may receive.
