Sunfoil 3-Day Cup, Pool A: South Western Districts v KwaZulu-Natal at Oudtshoorn, Feb 19-21, 2015
SWD’s final Sunfoil Cup Three Day match against KwaZulu Natal that was played at the Recreation Ground in Oudtshoorn ended in a draw on Saturday. SWD (with three wins in 10 matches at 94.18 points) ended in fourth position in Pool A – behind Notherns (131.38), North West (120.34) and Western Province (104.56).
The visitors, who batted first, posted 279 in their first innings as SWD who made 286 gained a 7 run lead on the first innings. Top scorer, Luthando Mnyanda (73) earned himself a call-up to the Warriors. KZN was on 284/6 when the captain shook hand on Saturday afternoon to confirm a draw.
Waldo Lategan (466 runs; 42.90 average) was SWD’s top first class batsman of the season while Gurshwin Rabie – with 40 wickets – were the most successful bowler. With Gauteng and Northerns that will contest the final he is currently the second most successful bowler behind Dale Deeb (Gauteng) who bagged 41 wickets.
