The Discovery Sport, the newest member of the Land Rover Discovery family, showcases some of Land Rover’s best technologies.
“We believe the Discovery Sport is the most versatile and capable vehicle in its class,” said Lisa Mallett, marketing and communications director, Jaguar Land Rover South Africa and sub-Sahara Africa.
Set inside the dashboard is an 8-inch, high resolution touchscreen display that gives drivers complete control over their entertainment and mobile phones, as well as the use of Bluetooth. Drivers are able to pair their mobile phones to the system, which allows phone calls to be placed as well as music to be streamed wirelessly. Rear-seat passengers can indulge in a comfortable movie-viewing experience thanks to optional eight-inch displays mounted in the headrests, which form part of the optional rear seat entertainment system. While Whitefire® digital headphones complement this system, the optional Meridian audio package offers full surround sound using 17 speakers, including a subwoofer.
The centre display also provides drivers with real-time feedback about their driving style, scoring them in acceleration, braking, and speed. A summary score show drivers how economically they are driving, allowing them to minimise their carbon footprint.
Terrain Response® is also fitted as standard, allowing drivers to configure the Discovery Sport for a variety of driving conditions, ranging from tar roads to rock crawling. It is supplemented by Hill Descent Control (HDC) and Electronic Traction Control (ETC) to ensure drivers remain confident when headed off the beaten track.
“The base model is generously equipped, and drivers can specify additional items as they see fit,” said Mallett. “We have not compromised on capabilities and safety – so all Discovery Sport drivers can enjoy a true Land Rover drive, both on and off road.”
