Lanzerac wine Estate is proud to announce that Lanzerac Le Gnral 2012 has been recognized as one of the Top 100 SA Wines for 2015. The results were announced on Wednesday, 15 April.
Top 100 SA Wines enables wine farms to position their winning wines with clarity, purpose and integrity. These wines are easily recognizable with an eye-catching label on the bottle, allowing consumers to select their perfect Top 100 SA Wine. This year’s Top 100 judges were Masters of Wine Tim Atkin, Richard Kershaw, Greg Sherwood and Justin Knock, well-known British wine journalist Jamie Goode, Cape Wine Master Lizette Tolken and winemaker Duncan Savage.
Wynand Lategan, Cellar Master at Lanzerac Wine Estate, produces only 500 cases of this award-winning wine annually.
The name Le Gnral pays tribute to the well-known French General Lanzerac (after which it is believed the estate was named) who was famous for his aggressive attitude and determination during the Aisne-Marne battle in 1918, which marked the series of offensives that finally won the Allied forces the war.
Le Gnral is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinotage, Shiraz and Malbec, and displays deep colour and offers layers of black and red berry aromas, with hints of currant and cacao on the nose. The wine delivers a well-rounded amalgam of berries and chocolate on the palate that lingers on the aftertaste. The Le Gnral has the potential to mature over a 10 to 12 year period and will only get better with time.
Available directly from the Tasting Room at R400 per bottle, and Wine Club members qualify for a 20% discount.
