SWD name youth squads

The South Western Districts schools rugby selectors have announced the province’s Craven and Academy Week teams upon the conclusion of their customary early May trials period.

Once again the vast majority predictably come from the two local giants, Oakdale and Outeniqua. The Riversdale Bulle can look on their total of seventeen caps as just reward for their very impressive showing this season, while the Quaggas (12 representatives) will be intent on showing who rules the roost in the Pretty Province when they host Oakdale on Saturday 30 May 2015.

In a laudable move, the selectors have apparently opted to use the Academy Week side as a nursery for the young talent to be found in some of the less prominent teams in the area.

The Craven Week faces a tough start to their quest for honours at the Markotter. They face Eastern Province, to whom they lost in last year’s unofficial final, on Tuesday 14 July 2015.
