South Western Districts Cricket and the community radio station in the Southern Cape, Eden FM, recently signed a media broadcasting partnership. This partnership will ensure even bigger media exposure to SWD Cricket whilst the SWD cricket will avail all its branding properties to promote EdenFM.
Both parties expressed their excitement with this agreement. According to SWD Cricket CEO, Albertus Kennedy, Eden FM played a vital role in promoting the game of cricket in the region by keeping listeners updated on news, event and activities of SWD Cricket. “This partnership will be beneficial to both parties and we are looking forward to promoting both brands with the aim to grow our businesses” he said.
Eden FM, which started broadcasting in 2003 and received its permanent license in 2007 is the largest community radio station in the region with more than 177,000 listeners. According to Morné Pietersen, the station manager of Eden FM provide this agreement a platform for the radio station to contribute to the development and exposure of local sport in the region. “We are extremely impressed and excited about the development program to develop young local heroes in the game of cricket”, he said.
