A Multiparty Task Team called into action to address the events of last week in George by the Executive Mayor of George Alderman Charles Standers, as requested by the Party Whips, will today report to the City Council at a Special Council Meeting. The task force which was created on request of the Party Whips had their inaugural meeting on Saturday, August 22, 2105 at 10:00.
On Monday, August 24 a second meeting was held to discuss the goals and methods of the special task team with all parties of the Council being represented. The mandate and objectives of this multi-party task team will be ratified at the Special Council meeting today, after which the task team will continue with their functions.

All parties in the George City Council are pleased with the composition and mandate of this multi-party Special Task Team and the goal is to facilitate a peaceful solution and the continuation of the GO GEORGE public transport system. Their goal is to bring the parties together so that all differences can be discussed and resolved. The interests of the George community are their core focus and the process will not be politicized.
The Task Team requests that the broad public unite by showing solidarity and refraining from hurtful and demeaning and racist remarks as well as unsubstantiated comments in the social media or in public that could be detrimental to the defusing of the crisis.
Veelparty Taakspan lewer verslag aan George Stadsraad
Die Veelparty Taakspan wat verlede Saterdag deur die Uitvoerende Burgemeester van George, Raadsheer Charles Standers, op versoek van die Partyswepe, in die lewe geroep is om die gebeure van verlede week in George aan te spreek, sal vandag by ‘n Spesiale Raadsvergadering aan die Stadsraad van George verslag lewer. Die stigtingsvergadering het op Saterdag 22 Augustus 2105 om 10:00 plaasgevind. Op Maandag 24 Augustus was ‘n tweede Vergadering gehou om die doelwitte en werkswyse van die spesiale taakspan uit te werk. Alle partye van die Raad word verteenwoordig op die taakspan.
Die mandaat en doelwitte van hierdie veelparty taakspan sal vandag tydens die Spesiale Raadsvergadering bekragtig word, waarna die taakspan met sy werksaamhede sal voortgaan.

Alle partye in George se Stadsraad is tevrede met die samestelling en mandaat van hierdie veelparty Spesiale Taakspan, asook die taakspan se doelwit om ‘n vreedsame oplossing vir die voortsetting van die GO GEORGE publiekevervoerstelsel te fasiliteer. Hulle doel is om die partye bymekaar te bring sodat verskille genoem en uitgepraat kan word. Hulle is dit eens dat die belange van die George gemeenskap hul kernfokus is en dat die proses nie verpolitiseer sal word nie.
Die Taakspan versoek die breë publiek om in hierdie tyd as ‘n eenheid saam te staan en hulle te weerhou van kwetsende en neerhalende, rassistiese opmerkings, asook ongegronde bewerings in die sosiale media of in die openbaar, wat die ontlonting van die krisis kan belemmer.
